Dior names BTS star as global brand ambassador

The global fashion brand, Dior has named BTS star- Jimin as a global brand ambassador. The announcement was made through social media on Monday.

The post was accompanied by images showing the 27-year-old star in a series of looks from the brand’s Summer 2023 collection.

Through the ambassadorial deal, the South Korean singer will lend his image to creations by Kim Jones, Artistic Director of Dior’s men’s collections.

Dior said the appointment solidifies the singer’s relationship with the French label and continues a bond with the artistic director of menswear, Kim Jones.

Jimin, whose full name is Park Ji-min, “exemplifies the timeless spirit and singularity of Dior,” the announcement added.

The new ambassadorial deal is a move that signals South Korea’s growing importance to the world’s biggest luxury fashion houses.

Last year, the fashion house hosted a show in the country for the very first time, presenting its Fall 2022 collection to a star-studded audience in the capital Seoul.

Also, the show saw the attendance of another of Dior’s celebrity ambassadors, Blackpink singer Jisoo, where she was joined by stars including figure skater Kim Yuna and Korean American rapper Jay Park.

Jimin and Jisoo are part of Dior’s growing roster of Korean ambassadors which also includes Sehun, of the pop group EXO, and actor and model Nam Joo-Hyuk, who is one of the faces of Dior Beauty Korea.

Also recall that Dior — whose parent company, LVMH, announced last week that the billionaire owner Bernard Arnault’s made his daughter, Delphine the label’s chair and CEO.

Dior currently lists more than two dozen boutiques across South Korea, including seven in Seoul’s upmarket Gangnam district. Its flagship store opened in the capital in 2015.

With the change of leadership in some of the label departments and Ambassadorial deals, it looks like Dior has greater plans for its industry. This time Dior seeks to expand its presence in the South Korean market.
