Singer Portable has just been granted bail. Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been granted bail by a high court in Ogun State.Firstly, Portable landed in police custody on Friday, March 31. This was after a brawl with police officers at his bar. During this period, one of the officers was allegedly injured.
Subsequently, the singer was arraigned in court on Monday. Currently, the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the controversial singer would face more than six charges in court.However, Portable was granted bail in the sum of N300,000. Also, he is to provide two sureties with landed properties within the court’s vicinity.
The charges against Portable read,
“That you, Badmus Habeebat Okikiola, M, A.K.A. Portable, and others now at large on the 28th day of March, 2023.” Specifically at 11am at Odogwu Bar, Oke-Osa, Ilogbo, Ifo in the Ifo Magisterial District did willfully cause or inflict physical injury on one Inspector Hammed Moshood. You hit him on the nose with your elbow, which caused blood to gush out of his nose. Hence, committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 4 (1) of the Violence against Persons and Prohibition Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2017.
That you, Badmus Okikiola, A.K.A. Portable, on the same date, time, and place did resist being arrested by Inspector Hammed Moshood “M.” Other officials present were ASP Gregory Iyoha ‘m’, ASP Kunle Badmus ‘m’. After serving you with a police invitation letter on the 20th day of January, 2023, for the offences you committed. Also, they were about to discharge their duty with a warrant of arrest on you. Thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 197 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.
Nevertheless, Magistrate A.S. Shoneye said the offences were bailable. He was granted bail with a bail bond of N300,000 and two sureties who must reside within the jurisdiction of the honorable court. The court, however, ruled that the defendant be transferred to the Ilaro Correctional Center. Until his bail requirements were met.
Lastly, the case was adjourned until April 26 for the commencement of trial.
