Capello says Messi is on the same level as Maradona

Fabio Capello, Legendary Italian coach says Lionel Messi was already on the same level as Diego Maradona even before leading Argentina to the 2022 world cup.

The award-winning footballer had got his hands on the most prestigious trophy after leading Argentina to a third world cup title.

There have been several debates on whether Messi has gotten to the level of Diego Maradona, the late Argentine legend.

The former football star bagged a brace against France in the final which ended 3-3 before Argentina triumphed 4-2 on penalties to land its first world title since 1986.

Capello believes Lionel Messi had already gotten to the level of the 1986 World Cup-winning captain even before the tournament in Qatar.

Capello says Messi was on the same level as Maradona even before the world cup. He says “Pele, Messi, and Maradona did things others couldn’t even imagine.” As quoted on Football Italia.

Also, Capello reacted to Karim Benzema not being picked for the final match against Argentina following reports that he had recovered from injury.

He also asked if Didier Deschamps is wrong for not having Karim Benzema on the team for the Final.
