Arise TV crew attacked in Lagos

Arise Television’s crew was attacked in Lagos. This happened while they were covering the elections in the Elegushi Palace area of Lagos State.
According to a broadcast journalist, Oseni Rufai, the cameras and drones used for coverage were seized. So, he took to his Twitter handle on Saturday to say that a correspondent was also bruised.

Further, the cameraman sustained facial injuries. Arise TV has published this news on its website. Details about the attackers are unknown. Arise TV team has reported the case to the police station. Therefore, the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, had promised to swing into action.

Additionally, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Benjamin Hundeyin, has been contacted for details of the incident. He has yet to respond to the calls and texts sent to him.Harassment of journalists and pressmen during elections is becoming a recurrent episode.Furthermore, during the elections of February 25, at least 14 journalists were attacked, brutalized, or detained, a report by the Committee to Protect Journalists stated.

Lastly, Arise TV hopes the attackers are rounded up and their equipment is found and returned.
