Election Day: Distribution of Voting Materials

Finally, it’s election day, and millions of Nigerians will come out en masse to exercise their civic responsibilities.We should be informed that over 200,000 NYSC members have been deployed to ensure smooth sailing of the election. Also, 87.2 million people are eligible to vote in the 176,606 polling units available nationwide. Voting materials have been dispatched to various wards since Wednesday.

Three weeks after the presidential election of February 25, INEC is once again ready to conduct another election. Initially, the elections were slated for March 11 but got rescheduled due to the need for reconfiguration of the BVAS.
Nigerians are hoping for a hitch-free exercise. As early as 7:00 a.m., voters began trooping to their various polling units.

 

Of the 36 states in the federation, governorship elections will be held in 28.The states are Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, and Zamfara.
Currently, for the State House of Assembly, all 36 states will participate in the competition for the 993 House of Assembly seats.

 

As of 6:49 a.m., INEC officials started distributing election materials across various polling units.
Meanwhile, at 8:15 a.m. INEC officials were setting up polling booths. Voters have started showing up for the election. Most voters turned up early to avoid long lines.

Finally, it seems the election is off to an early start.
