Heavy snow in large swaths of Japan kills 17 people and injures more than 90 people and left hundreds of homes without power.
The massive Winter storm has dumped heavy snow in the northern regions since last week leaving hundreds of vehicles stranding on the highway.
The winter storm caused delays in delivery services and caused over 11 death by Saturday.
During the Christmas weekend, more snowfall increased the number of deaths to 27 and injured up to 93 by Monday morning. According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency.

Most deaths recorded were caused by falls from people while removing snow from roofs or were buried underneath thick piles of snow sliding off rooftops.
The disaster management agency also reported that a woman in her 70s was found dead under a thick pile of rooftop snow that fell suddenly on her in Yamagata prefecture’s Nagai City, about 300 kilometers (180 miles) north of Tokyo, where snow piled up higher than 80 centimeters (2.6 feet) Saturday.
Aside from death reports, rice farmers in Niigata also lament delayed delivery. They said there have been delayed delivery and their “mochi” may not reach their customers in time.
Many parts of Northeastern Japan have also reported three times their average snowfall girl the season.
The heavy snow also knocked down an electric power transmission tower in Japan’s northernmost main island, leaving about 20,000 homes without power on Christmas morning.
The snow also affected travel as dozens of trains and flights were suspended in Northern Japan through Sunday.
