Hoodlums clashed over a court ruling on Tuesday in the Magodo Isheri area of Lagos State. The hoodlums were trying to prevent court bailiffs from posting an Appeal Court judgement, given on March 16, 2023. The judgement confirmed the landlords in the community as the owners of the land.

Specifically, the hoodlums stormed the palace of the Isheri monarch, who was having a meeting. However, some youths in the area resisted the invaders, hence the clash. During the clash, the hoodlums armed with weapons engaged themselves in a ruckus. This created tension for the landlords, residents, and business owners of the area.

Furthermore, a lot of people were trapped in their houses due to the breakdown of law and order. This was by people claiming they had a court order granting them ownership of land. Banks and some shops remained shut at noon on Tuesday.

The hodlums were however resisted by some residents in the area as they tried to enter Magodo Phase One to claim the area. After writing and pasting some orders on walls of residential and commercial buildings including the banks, they tried to enforce their claimed order in other areas comprising of Olowoira and Magodo. Burnt tyres littered the roads which prevented people from going to work or coming in.

However, the police and men of the Rapid Response Squad have been mobilized to control the situation.
