INEC holds meeting with RECs concerning Governorship election

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has assured Nigerians that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used in the forthcoming governorship and state legislature elections. This is coming a week after the presidential elections and a week before the state elections.

Mahmood gave Nigerians the assurance on Saturday in a meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

He added that the BVAS is being worked on to avoid glitches and will be used for the forthcoming elections. Yakubu encouraged the RECs to work harder to ensure a smooth exercise.
