The Deputy Gov of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, has said that MC Oluomo must pay if he is guilty. Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo, was accused of breaking the law during the just concluded state elections.
Firstly, Hamzat made this known on Tuesday morning. This was during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme. While answering questions on violence and alleged rigging, the deputy gov announced this. Further, the deputy gov said that he wasn’t calling for MC Oluomo’s arrest.
Specifically, he is insisting that facts be examined and the truth will be found. Therefore, if in truth MC Oluomo broke the law, he must pay for it. The deputy gov’s reaction was in response to a video that made the rounds on social media. In the video, MC Oluomo, who is also the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Works for Lagos State, was said to be threatening people of Igbo extraction residing in the state.
He noted that MC Oluomo came out to say he was referring to a woman. Also, the woman has said MC Oluomo was actually referring to her. But the deputy gov stated that he was not a police officer or a prosecutor. So, there are people who will examine the matter and the truth will be revealed.
Further, he called on citizens not to say the election was bad. Atrocities were committed on that day and the perpetrators will pay for it. Equally important, he noted that the state government has been accommodating of everybody in the state. In addition, Lagos is the only state that has other cultures in its State Assembly.
Finally, he added that punishing perpetrators was the right deterrent to other people.
