Two confirmed dead, others injured in Lagos train accident
The Lagos train accident has claimed the lives of two people while others are reportedly injured.
Two persons have been confirmed dead, while others sustained an injury in an accident involving a moving train, and a Lagos state Staff bus, on Thursday morning in the Shogunle area of Ikeja.
Report has it that the two casualties were staff of the Lagos State Government.
Furthermore, the accident has been confirmed by the South West Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Ibrahim Farinloyez who said the State Government staff bus was trying to cross the PWD/Sogunle rail crossing while the train coming into Lagos from Abeokuta trapped the bus on its rail.
“The operations are ongoing. Search and Rescue concluded. Removal of the carcass of the bus is ongoing,” Farinloye added.
Meanwhile, officials of LASEMA, NEMA, Police, FRSC, CIVIL DEFENCE, and Nigeria Railway Corporation team are at the rescue scene.

Lagos train accident: Eyewitness report on how the train rammed into the bus
It was learned that the blue staff bus was trying to cross while the train was closed by in motion. The magnet on the train grabbed it from the PWD bus stop and dragged it to Shogunle where it stopped.
According to an eyewitness, Babs, who witnessed the accident, the driver refused to stop because he thought he could pass before the coming of the train.
The keepers of NRC at that level Crossing tried to stop the driver from passing because of the incoming train he but refused.
