YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki resigns after nine years
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki will be stepping down after nine years in the role of the Chief Executive Officer of YouTube.
She wrote in a blog post that she had decided to begin a new chapter that is focused on family, health, and personal projects.
At that, Neal Mohan, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer will take over as head of the Google-owned platform.
For Susan Wojcicki, The time is right for her, and she feels able to do this because she has an incredible leadership team in place at YouTube.
Also, Susan Wojcicki added she would continue to work at YouTube in the “short term” to “support Neal and help with the transition”.
Furthermore, she stated in her blog that she praised Mr. Mohan’s work launching YouTube TV, as well as leading YouTube Music, Premium, and Shorts.
Susan Wojcicki also confirmed that she would take “an advisory role across Google and Alphabet” at the invitation of Sundar Pichai, Chief Executive of Google’s parent firm.
“This will allow me to call on my different experiences over the years to offer counsel and guidance across Google and the portfolio of Alphabet companies,” she said.

Susan Wojcicki’s Legacy so far
Susan Wojcicki became involved with Google when the founders, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, set up shop in the garage of her home in Silicon Valley in 1998, becoming the company’s first marketing manager a year later.
She was a Google employer for nearly 25 years and was among the first 20 employees at the tech giant, listed as number 16.
Furthermore, she had experienced public criticism over the platform’s handling of content moderation, the spread of misinformation, and ongoing concerns over child privacy.
Organizations based on fact-checking around the world say YouTube is not doing well to prevent the proliferation of misinformation on the platform.
Notwithstanding, when Susan Wojcicki joined YouTube in 2014, it had just hit a milestone of 1 Billion users, but it currently hosts 2.5 billion users worldwide with a lot of YouTube creators.
One of YouTube’s creators, Jimmy Donaldson was the highest-earning content creator last year with a gross net worth of £45 million as estimated by Forbes.
Susan Wojcicki is the latest in a series of high-profile tech executives to leave long-standing roles.
