15 Men arrested in Katsina over suspicion to meddle with election results

Fifteen men have been arrested on Friday in Katsina by the Nigerian Police Force over suspicion to meddle with the 2023 presidential election results.

Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the news of the arrest on Friday night.

Furthermore, he explained that the men arrested in Katsina were with unspecified numbers of electronic gadgets like computers and laptops which were alleged to belong to a popular political party.

Currently, the men are being detained at the command’s Criminal Investigation Department, adding that investigation was already ongoing into the matter.

He said, “We arrested fifteen suspects with unspecified numbers of laptops and apps belonging to a political party. We have commenced an investigation and we don’t want to jump the gun. We have already invited experts to investigate the items as we don’t want to jump the gun. We shall make public the outcome.”

Though there are restrictions on both human and vehicular movements across the state, Katsina State is generally calm on the election morning as security operatives are seen in all entry and exit points of the state.

Also, the security operatives have taken positions in targeted areas including communities where voting would be conducted in various areas in the State.
