Corpse disappearance, attendants nabbed

Ogun State Police Command has arrested four persons in conjunction with the disappearance of a corpse. The corpse is that of an 86-year-old man, Joel Omiran. This happened at the Sacred Heart Hospital Mortuary in Lantoro, Abeokuta, the state capital.

Now, the man died a month ago at the hospital where he was rushed for treatment. Then, the body was kept at the mortuary by the deceased’s family. Further, the children of the dead man checked the corpse three weeks ago, and it was intact.

Afterward, the children notified the hospital of their intention to take the corpse away. The body was to be buried soon after. However, on the said date, the family got to the mortuary, paid money, and couldn’t find the body. A search was conducted, but the corpse wasn’t found.

.

The four persons arrested were two mortuary attendants, a plumber, and an auditor. Moreover, the state police public relations officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident. Furthermore, the police have commenced an investigation. The police held the plumber because, a few days before the incident, he helped the attendants break the door to the mortuary. This was because the keys to the doors were misplaced. Lastly, the police made the arrest on Thursday.
