The Labour Party appointed Nollywood actress Hilda Dokubo as the acting chairperson in Rivers State. She was appointed days before the governorship elections, which were rescheduled for March 18.

In addition, a statement signed by the national chairman, Julius Abure, states the appointment of Dokubo. This is coming after the dissolution of the caretaker committee led by Dienye People. Abure stated that the appointment was for one month.

Next, the Labour Party gave its reason for the dissolution as gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of the party’s funds. The dissolution of the executive council in Rivers State was announced on Tuesday.

Furthermore, there are reports that the state chapter of the Labour Party intentionally collapsed its structure. The structure was collapsed to endorse the People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Sim Fubara.

Further, Abure stated that a full investigation into what happened at the last election will be carried out. He advised that those at the helm of affairs in the state where the presidential mandate of Peter Obi was stolen should step aside.
