Makinde declares half day on Friday

 

 

The Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, has declared a half-day holiday for workers on Friday. This was declared in a statement on Thursday. The holiday is for workers in the employ of the state ahead of Saturday’s election.

 

In a circular authorized by the Secretary to the State Government, Olubanwo Adeosun, affirmed the holiday. Adeosun said the holiday was important to enable civil servants to travel to their polling units. Then, they would be able to vote in the Saturday, March 18, governorship and House of Assembly elections.

 

 

Furthermore, a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Taiwo Adisa, said that workers are expected to close by 12 p.m. Nevertheless, those who had essential duties would stay back.

 

Therefore, on Friday, March 17, most government offices in Oyo State under Seyi Makinde would be closed at 12 p.m. Public and civil servants should be allowed to exercise their civic responsibilities. This is the purpose of the holiday declared by Gov. Makinde.
