Niger Delta region tables demands before Labor Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The demands were made concerning the candidate vying for the seat of the president.
The leader of the Pan Nigeria Delta Forum (PANDEF) tables the demand for the federation among other things before Peter Obi.
They made the demand at an interactive meeting held on Friday in Yenogoa during Peter Obi’s visit to Bayelsa State as a continuation of his presidential campaign.
The group read their demand to Peter Obi, Labor Party presidential candidate signed by Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien.
In addition, the National Chairman, secretary, and Board of Trustees discussed that Peter Obi shows commitment to a true federal structure if elected as president of the country.
Here are some demands by PANDEF
Presenting the demand, Senator Essien told Peter Obi that he would have to protect the interest of the Niger Delta region which produces over 80 percent of the country’s revenue.
PANDEF also requested that Peter Obi consider restructuring and devolution of power as this would help the region to develop at its own pace man’s help the region grow.
They also called the attention of the presidential candidate to projects like the railway within the South-South, referral hospital, agricultural value chain plan, and the East-West road which has not been completed for over twenty years.

The Niger Delta region further pointed to the creation of new ports to encourage the movement of goods and services.
The port is expected to run from the South-South through the South East and North Central to North East.
The relocation of the Headquarters of International oil companies (IOC) to their areas of operations in the Niger Delta.
Reactivation of ALSCON Aluminum smelter parts in Akwa Ibom State, and other demands. In all, they requested a strategic position in government.
Peter Obi in response promised to pay attention to the needs of the people of the Niger Delta as he acknowledged that the “Nigerian state” has not been fair to the people of the Niger Delta.
Obi promised that they would move the country from consumption to production.
Location of Niger Delta
The Niger Delta region sits directly on the gulf of Guinea on the Atlantic Ocean in Nigeria.
It is located within 9 southern Nigerian states. All six states are in the South-South geographical zone, one from the Southwest and two from the Southeast.
