Desmond Elliott, a Lagos State House of Assembly member, has condemned the attack on Labour Party candidate Olumide Oworu. Olumide Oworu is Desmond Elliott’s opponent for the House of Assembly seat in Lagos.

On Thursday, Olumide tweeted that he and his team were attacked during their campaign. Further, the attack happened on Tuesday at Iponri, Surulere. The tweet reads, “My team and I were attacked on Tuesday as we attempted to campaign at Iponri, Surulere.” A member of my team was injured, but we are thankful the incident didn’t escalate past the level it was at. The case has been reported at the Iponri police station.

Furthermore, Olumide stated that he was not deterred by the incident. Now more than ever, he is committed to seeing this through. “We will pass through the wards in constituency 1 (Akinhanmi/Cole, Adeniran/Ogunsanya, Iponri Housing Estate/Eric Moore, Igbaja/Stadium, Shitta/Ogunlana Drive, Yaba/Ojuelegba). “See you outside!”
Equally important, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos state, has confirmed the incident. However, he also noted that he didn’t have all the details yet.

Desmond Elliott, via his verified Facebook page, called Olumide’s attackers “overzealous political jobbers masquerading as party supporters.” He tagged the attack on Labour Party supporters as senseless.
Desmond Elliott is the All Progressives Congress candidate and incumbent Surulere Constituency Representative. Elliott has always said he will never be a party to undermining the peace in Lagos State.

Lastly, he urged residents of Lagos State to remain calm as they go forward to vote on Saturday.
