Train crash victim’s family in tears

Oreoluwa Aina was one of the victims of the train crash incident in Lagos on Thursday. She was rushed to the hospital but gave up the ghost there. Oreoluwa was a National Youth Corps member.

 

According to her father, he was in Abuja when the incident happened. Immediately after the accident, Oreoluwa was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She passed away in the evening of that same day, even before her father could get to Lagos.Meanwhile, the father noted that she was not a frequent user of the staff bus. It was the cashless policy that made her use the bus on that fateful day, as she had only N200.

 

 

Oreoluwa was actually preparing to go to the UK for her Master’s program after NYSC. Now, all hopes are dashed. She had great ambitions and dreams. She was a graduate of pure and applied chemistry from Osun State University. Before she graduated, instead of the normal four years in school, she spent seven. The family is in pain and angry at the bus driver.

 

 

Nevertheless, her father praised LASUTH. He said the victims of the train crash were given priority as emergencies. In short, the situation was managed well. In addition, he suggested that the government carry out a reevaluation of its drivers. He said it was paramount to check the drivers’ mental health, as they are in charge of people’s lives.

 

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has visited the bereaved families of the train crash. Lastly, he added that 32 victims have been discharged from state public health facilities.
