Karim Adeyemi, Dortmund forward out for three weeks with ankle injury
Karim Adeyemi, Borussia Dortmund forward has been ruled out for about three weeks after sustaining a left ankle injury.
He sustained the injury during the German first-division Bundesliga football match between Borussia Dortmund and Hertha Berlin in Dortmund
Also, Dortmund stated on Monday that the 21-year-old forward, Karim Adeyemi tore a muscle fiber in his ankle during the team’s 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
Adeyemi picked up the injury while setting up a goal for Donyell Malen during Dortmund’s 4-1 victory over Hertha Berlin on Sunday, and was helped off the ground in tears.
Furthermore, the club tweeted that Karim Adeyemi tore a muscle fiber during Sunday’s game against Hertha Berlin.
“He will not be available for about three weeks. Get well soon.” Dortmund tweeted
In addition, Karim Adeyemi had scored the opening goal with his heel and sustained an injury while setting up Donyell Malen for the second goal with a cross.
Thereafter he went off in the 35th minute.
Adeyemi had scored three goals and set up another in his last three games.
The Germany striker, who arrived from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer, looks set to miss games against Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Schalke.
With this, his three-week absence would also mean Adeyemi is ruled out of the return leg of Dortmund’s Champions League tie with Chelsea in London.
Additionally, he is set to miss Bundesliga games against Hoffenheim and Leipzig, the visit to Chelsea in the Champions League, and the Ruhr derby against Schalke.
Dortmund has won all eight games it has played since the turn of the year. The team is in second place behind leader Bayern Munich but ahead of Union Berlin on goal difference. All three teams have 43 points after 21 matches.
