Truck kills four in Abeokuta

Four people were confirmed dead in a truck crash in Abeokuta. The accident involved a tanker and two cars in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun, Mrs. Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident on Saturday.

 

Again, the accident was caused by overspeeding by the tanker driver. Further, Okpe divulged that the accident involved a tanker marked T-15321LA, a BMW car with registration number TTD 421 CX, and an unregistered Nissan jeep.

 

Additionally, it was reported that the tanker was trying to make a turn at the Lafenwa roundabout in Abeokuta. Then, it lost control and hit two vehicles and the fence of a building. The victims were standing by the fence before the incident happened.

 

According to Okpe, the contents of the tanker were spilled. Subsequently, it was quickly transloaded into another truck with the help of the fire service and other traffic managers. Further, the FRSC commander in Abeokuta expressed sadness over the incident.This accident occurred because some truck drivers refuse to consider other road users. Immediately, the victims of the accident were taken by their families.

 

Finally, Okpe sympathizes with the families of the victims. Nevertheless, they are to contact the FRSC for more information on the crash.
