The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun the distribution of electoral materials. The distribution of materials for Saturday’s election began on Wednesday. Also, political parties warned INEC against a repeat of the BVAS glitch.
In addition, it was the complaints about the electoral conduct that resulted in some parties challenging the results. Parties have insisted that this election be different from that of February 25.
In some states, INEC has deployed electoral materials ahead of the election. This includes Lagos, Sokoto, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, Bauchi, Kebbi, and many others. The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, and the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, took delivery of ballot papers and result sheets. This exercise was carried out at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lagos. Additionally, it was monitored by several stakeholders.
Electoral officers from different local governments were on the ground to receive the materials. Therefore, they are to circulate the materials to the local government areas and the polling units.
Subsequently, INEC has promised a free, fair, and credible election on Saturday. Agbaje, in an interview, confirmed that the materials would be conveyed to the wards today, Thursday.
Finally, INEC wants the electoral materials to get to their destinations on time to avoid delays.
